The Disappearing Book
Melody Owen et al.
From the Melody's introduction: "This book attempts to address the marvelous nature of some of the many things that are disappearing from the world. As there are so very many things, and they are disappearing at such an alarming rate, it was difficult to know where to begin. I gathered a random collection from the red list (a comprehensive site categorizing endangered and vulnerable plants and animals) and presented this much smaller list to an invited group of artists and writers, asking them to explore whichever topic they liked in whatever manner they deemed appropriate." The result is a varied collection of work by a diverse group creators like artist/illustrator Carson Ellis, author Kevin Sampsell, and musician Nick Jaina. A celebration of delicate biodiversity, The Disappearing Book asks us to contemplate these things which are here right now, but may disappear before we realize it.
The Disappearing Book includes the work of Julianna Bright, Jessyca Burke, Ty Connor, Philip Cooper, Carson Ellis, Myriam Gurba, Nick Jaina, Kristan Kennedy, Alexandra Lakin, Aaron Henry, Zak Margolis, Montana Maurice, Donald Morgan, Laura Moulton, Melody Owen, Camela Raymond, Cynthia Lahti, Vanessa Renwick, Jack Dingo Ryan, Kevin Sampsell, Sheldon Skillie, Estela López Solís, Rudy Speerschneider and Cynthia Star
